‘Mothers and Fathers assorted 3/11d’

Croydon Advertiser 1962

The modest price for a family to live in a Barton’s dollhouse in 1962. Barton’s Toy Factory in New Addington employed many local people from the mid 1950s to 1980s and Pollock’s Toy Museum are looking for real families who worked at the factory at Vulcan Way.

As part of Croydon’s year of Culture the museum, now located in the Whitgift Centre, Croydon, is celebrating this family owned company who were especially famous for their dollhouse furniture with an oral history project, exhibition and workshops making miniature rooms.

If you or someone in your family worked for Barton’s or sold their toys we would love to talk to you for an informal chat and possibly a recorded interview to become part of Croydon’s archive of local voices.

Contact us at info.pollockstoymuseum@gmail.com or pop into the museum in Croydon on a Saturday from 11-4pm.
